Established in the year 2000, Southern Initiatives is a registered non-profit civil-society group with a mission to empower the common wo/man through coordinated research-based advocacy, nurturing of peoples movements on issues, networking and direct action.

Our goals are to Empower Common People through balanced information and solid analysis about goods, services, government policy and the inter-linkages between the working of the economy, world trade and rights.

Target Poverty and Social Exclusion through direct grassroots interventions; policy work at the local, national and global levels and alliance building activities with all organisations and agencies both in the South and the North having similar goals.

Promote Sustainable Development by linking it with other areas of intervention, conducting intensive research and undertaking active policy advocacy for a sustainable future and environmental protection.
